Mark's Mysteries
Pouring from the mind of Mark Ellis Harmon
Mystery stories for the mind and the spirit.

Mark's Mysteries is being done entirely as an audio podcast. I am doing these directly from my mind into the microphone. I know that this is a different approach than other podcasters are taking, but it suits me to use this new media in a new way. If there ever comes a publishing need for it I can go back and make a transcript to work from.

I have always been fascinated by story telling. It drew me into gaming many years ago. I worked retail in a hobby shop for several years, dealing with games, trains and models. During that time I got adventures published for AD&D, Runequest and Call of Cuthulhu. I also met, and became involved with the artist Susan Van Camp. In the mid 90's she designed a role-playing game called Dragon Storm and I worked with her to bring it to publication. That game, and her art business, have become my primary income.

As podcasting became popular I ran into the old time radio (OTR) programs. It started with Nero Wolfe. Sam Spade, Johnny Dollar and Philip Marlowe soon followed. As I listened to these I searched for fantasy podcasts. They are few and far between. Slowly I formed an idea. I like story telling, I like podcasts, I like detective stories and I like fantasy. In short, Mark's Mysteries was born.

I started the Mark's Mysteries podcasts and hooked up with Libsyn to net cast them. At first I used just the equipment that was at hand. I quickly realized that I was going to have upgrade my sound input device and i added a Snowball. Other than that I'm still using just what comes with the machine.

I did my first six episodes and I learned a lot. All in all, I'm happy with what I did, but I think I can do a better podcast with my experiences behind me. So I'm calling those first six the Beta Season and now, after a break, I'll be doing the first official season of Mark's Mysteries.

I know there should be more here, but I'm really a talker more than a writer. If I get enough requests, I'll do an artist background podcast on myself!

Thanks for Listening!
